Common Cactus Finch, Geospiza scandens, is a bird of the Galápagos in South America and belongs to the tanager family Thraupidae. It is part of the Darwin’s finch group and was described by Gould in 1837. The species occurs on most of the islands, though not on Fernandina, Española, Genovesa, Darwin or Wolf. It is linked with dry scrub and woodland, and is often found near Opuntia cactus. Four subspecies are recognised, with different island distributions across the archipelago.
