Common Chlorospingus

Chlorospingus flavopectus (Lafresnaye, 1840)

Passerellidae — New World Sparrows

Common Chlorospingus, Chlorospingus flavopectus, is a passerine of the family Passerellidae that breeds from south-west Mexico through Middle America and South America to north-west Argentina. It was described by Lafresnaye in 1840. In the highlands it is a resident breeder, and it is notable for the wide variation shown across its range, with many populations thought to be separable. It is usually found in cloud forest with dense undergrowth and nearby bushy openings, and is often seen in small parties or in mixed feeding flocks.
