Larus canus
The Common Gull (Larus canus) is a medium-sized gull found in coastal areas, lakes, and rivers across Europe and Asia. It has a white head, neck, and underparts, with light gray wings and back. During the breeding season, it develops a dark smudge behind the eye. Common Gulls are opportunistic feeders, consuming fish, insects, and scavenging for human waste. They are known for their distinctive 'kree-ar' call. These gulls nest in colonies on coastal cliffs and islands, and their populations are stable. They are well adapted to urban environments and can often be seen scavenging in cities and towns.
