Common Hawk-Cuckoo, Hierococcyx varius, is a cuckoo of the Oriental Region, breeding from India to Myanmar. It was described by Vahl in 1797 and belongs to the family Cuculidae in the order Cuculiformes. It is also known as the brainfever bird. The bird is noted for its strong likeness to the shikra, including the way it flies and settles on a perch. Like other cuckoos, it lays its eggs in babbler nests.
