Common Hill Myna

Gracula religiosa

The Common Hill Myna, scientifically known as Gracula religiosa, is a striking bird with glossy black plumage, bright yellow wattles, and a vivid red bill. This species is known for its impressive vocal abilities, capable of mimicking a wide range of sounds and human speech. Found in the forests, woodlands, and urban areas of South and Southeast Asia, these mynas are highly adaptable and often form noisy flocks. They are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, and small vertebrates. The Common Hill Myna is a popular pet bird due to its intelligence and vocal talents, but it faces threats from habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade.
