Common Paradise Kingfisher, Tanysiptera galatea, is a bird of the Moluccas and New Guinea in Australasia, placed in the kingfisher family Alcedinidae. It was first named by Gray in 1859. In its appearance, the bird is marked by a red bill, a dark turquoise crown edged in brighter blue, blackish cheeks and bluish-black upperparts. The underparts are white, the under-wing coverts are blue and white, and the central tail feathers are lengthened with blue at the base.
