Common Redshank

Tringa totanus

The Common Redshank is a medium-sized wader with a distinctive red legs and a long, straight bill. It is found in a variety of wetland habitats, including mudflats, estuaries, and marshes. During the breeding season, it can be found in grassy areas near water where it builds its nest on the ground. This species is known for its loud, melodious alarm call that is often heard in its habitat. The Common Redshank primarily feeds on invertebrates such as insects, worms, and crustaceans. It is a migratory bird, with populations breeding in northern Europe and wintering in southern Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia.
