The Common Sandpiper is a small migratory wader found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has a distinctive bobbing motion and is often seen near freshwater habitats such as rivers, lakes, and marshes. This species has a brownish-grey upper body, white underparts, and a distinctive white eye-ring. During the breeding season, it can be found in upland areas, while in winter, it migrates to coastal areas and estuaries. The Common Sandpiper forages by picking insects and small invertebrates from the water's edge. It is known for its distinctive call, a series of three sharp whistles. This species is of Least Concern according to the IUCN Red List.
