Common Starling, Sturnus vulgaris, is a passerine of the starling family that breeds across the western and central Palearctic and has been introduced worldwide. It is a familiar bird of open country, with a glossy black body that shows a metallic gloss and is marked with white at certain times of year. The legs are pink, the bill changes from black in winter to yellow in summer, and juveniles are browner than adults. It was described by Linnaeus in 1758.
