Riparia congica
The Congo martin (Riparia congica) is a small passerine bird found in the tropical forests of Central Africa. It is known for its distinctive brown and white plumage, with a white belly and brown upperparts. This species is highly social and can often be seen in large flocks foraging for insects in the dense forest canopy. The Congo martin builds its cup-shaped nest from mud and plant material, often on vertical cliffs or riverbanks. Its melodious twittering call is a common sound in the forest understory. Despite its widespread distribution, the Congo martin faces threats from habitat loss and deforestation.
