Constant's Sunangel

Heliomaster constantii

The Constant's Sunangel is a striking hummingbird species found in the Andes of South America. It is distinguished by its iridescent green and blue plumage, with a glittering throat patch that shines bright purple in the sunlight. These small birds are known for their agile flight and their ability to hover while feeding on nectar from a variety of flowers. They also consume small insects as part of their diet. Constant's Sunangels are typically found in montane cloud forests and high-altitude shrublands, where they can be seen darting among the foliage in search of food. While not currently considered threatened, their habitat is increasingly at risk due to deforestation and climate change.
