Coopmans's Elaenia

Coopmans's Elaenia, Elaenia brachyptera, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family found in south-west Colombia and north-west Ecuador. It was described by Berlepsch in 1907. A small elaenia, it has a small squarish crest and the sexes look alike. Adults show a brownish olive head with paler cheeks, a narrow whitish eye-ring and a mostly concealed white crown patch. The upperparts are brownish olive, the wings dusky with whitish feather edges and two broad wing bars, and the tail dusky. The throat is grey, the breast grey-olive, and the belly and undertail coverts pale yellow.
