Copper Seedeater, Sporophila bouvreuil, is a bird of the Thraupidae family found in southern Suriname and eastern and south-eastern Brazil. Its breeding range lies in South America. It was once treated together with the pearly-bellied seedeater under the name capped seedeater, before the two were separated in February 2012. The species is associated with dry savanna. It was described by Müller, PLS, in 1776.
