Copper-tailed Hummingbird

Saucerottia cupreicauda

The Copper-tailed Hummingbird is a small, vibrant bird found in the highland forests of Central and South America. With its iridescent green and copper plumage, this species is a delight to observe as it flits from flower to flower, feeding on nectar with its specialized long, slender bill. These agile birds are known for their acrobatic flight patterns and distinctive whirring sound made by their rapidly beating wings. They play a vital role in pollination and are an important part of the ecosystem in their habitat. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and climate change are potential future concerns for this species.
