Coquerel's Coua, Coua coquereli, is a cuckoo of western and north-eastern Madagascar, where it breeds in dry deciduous forest and gallery forest. It was described by Grandidier in 1867. The bird is notable for the broad blue bare skin around the eye, a feature shared with other couas and reminiscent of African turacos. Its plumage is silky, with a black crown, pale brown to grey-brown upperparts and tail, and red-tinged underparts. The iris is red, and the bill and legs are slaty grey.
