Cordillera Tapaculo

Geocerthia serrana

The Cordillera Tapaculo (Geocerthia serrana) is a small, secretive bird found in the Andes of South America. It is known for its distinctive vocalizations and elusive behavior, often foraging on the ground in dense undergrowth. This species is primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of invertebrates and small arthropods. The Cordillera Tapaculo is well-adapted to its montane habitat, with a cryptic plumage that provides camouflage among the forest floor vegetation. It is a relatively sedentary species, rarely venturing far from its preferred habitats in the humid montane forests and cloud forests of the Andes.
