Cordilleran Parakeet, Psittacara frontatus, is a parakeet of the western Andes in Ecuador and Peru, breeding from western Ecuador south into southern Peru. It belongs to the Psittacidae family and was described by Cabanis in 1846. The bird is mainly green, with red on the forehead, the front of the crown and the bend of the wing, and some individuals show red spotting on the throat. The underparts are yellower, the flight feathers and tail are olive-yellow below, and the sexes look alike. It occurs in cloudforest edges, montane forest, gallery and secondary forest, as well as farmland and urban parks.
