Corsican Nuthatch

Sitta ledanti

The Corsican Nuthatch (Sitta ledanti) is a small bird species endemic to the island of Corsica in the Mediterranean. It is characterized by its blue-grey upperparts, white underparts, and distinctive black eye stripe. This nuthatch is often found in mature Corsican pine forests, where it forages for insects and seeds by moving head-first down tree trunks. The species is known for its agile and acrobatic movements as it navigates through the dense foliage. Due to its restricted range and habitat loss, the Corsican Nuthatch is considered vulnerable to extinction.
