Calonectris diomedea
Cory's Shearwater (Calonectris diomedea) is a large seabird in the shearwater family. It has a wingspan of around 95-110 cm and is known for its graceful, gliding flight over the open ocean. This species is primarily pelagic, spending most of its life at sea, only returning to land to breed. Cory's Shearwaters are known for their distinctive, haunting calls that can be heard during the breeding season. They are skilled fishers, diving into the water to catch prey. These birds are long-lived, with some individuals reaching 30 years of age. They face threats from marine pollution, overfishing, and habitat degradation.
