Costa Rican Brushfinch

Arremon costaricensis (Bangs, 1907)

Costa Rican Brushfinch, Arremon costaricensis, is a passerine of the New World sparrows found in Costa Rica and western Panama. It lives in the Pacific foothills, especially in humid tropical forest undergrowth, and also uses forest edges, bamboo thickets and gardens close to that habitat. It is a resident bird throughout the year. The species was first described in 1907 and is now treated as monotypic. Its range runs from central Puntarenas and northern San José in Costa Rica south to Chiriquí in Panama.
