Costa Rican Swift, Chaetura fumosa, is a bird of Costa Rica, Panama and northern Colombia in Middle America and South America. It belongs to the swift family Apodidae and was described by Salvin in 1870. It is a resident across its range and is usually found below 900 m, though it reaches 1,200 m in wetter parts of its range. It uses forest, semi-open country, pasture and farmland. The sexes are alike, and it is recognised by its dusky head, sooty black upperparts with a blue gloss, pale greyish rump and throat, and pale greyish breast.
