Cozumel Wren
Troglodytes beani Ridgway, 1885
Troglodytidae — Wrens
Cozumel Wren, Troglodytes beani, is a passerine in the wren family found on Cozumel Island off the coast of Mexico in Middle America. It was first described by Ridgway in 1885. The bird is confined to that island and is placed in a monotypic species with no recognised subspecies. It was once treated as part of the wider house wren group, but is now separated from it. The name Troglodytes refers to a bird that lives in holes, matching its habit of slipping into crevices.
