Craveri's Murrelet

Synthliboramphus craveri (Salvadori, 1866)

Craveri's Murrelet, Synthliboramphus craveri, breeds on offshore islands off Baja California and in the Gulf of California, and it also reaches coastal California and Jalisco outside the breeding season. It is an auk of the North Pacific coast of North America and Middle America. It is a small seabird with a small head and a narrow, pointed bill. Its plumage includes a partial neck collar, dusky underwings and a black facial mask that extends lower down the face than in Scripps's Murrelet. It was described by Salvadori in 1866.
