Parulidae — New World Warblers

Crescent-chested Warbler, Oreothlypis superciliosa, is a New World warbler that breeds in Middle America from Mexico to Nicaragua. It is found in montane areas and is linked with oaks. The bird is usually seen in its range, while northern populations may shift south or to lower ground in winter. Adult males show a chestnut crescent on the breast, a mark that is weaker in females and young birds and may be absent. It was described by Hartlaub in 1844.
