Driophlox cristata (Lawrence, 1875)

Crested Ant Tanager, Driophlox cristata, is a bird of Colombia in South America and is confined to the country’s western and central Andes. It belongs to the cardinal family and was once treated in a different genus. The species is the only one in its group. It lives in the understorey of humid mid-elevation and montane forest, especially where cover is thick beside streams, in ravines and near disturbed openings. It is also found in more open places at times. Its range lies between 700 and 2,000 m.
