Crested Bobwhite, Colinus cristatus, is a bird of Middle America and northern South America, with its breeding range running from Costa Rica through Panama and on into northern South America. It belongs to the New World quail family, Odontophoridae. It is also recorded from Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles. The bird lives in dry shrubland, seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and heavily altered former forest. Its most notable feature is the long feathering on the forehead and crown, which gives it a crested look.
