Crested Duck, Lophonetta specularioides, is a duck in the Anatidae family and the Anseriformes order. It is native to South America, where it is endemic, and its breeding range is in the south of the continent. The species is the only member of its genus. Two subspecies are recognised: one in the Andes and one in Patagonia. It occurs in lakes, marshes and grassy places, from shallow coastal bays to high mountain lakes. In coastal areas it uses sheltered bays and beaches, and it also lives in the Falklands, Chile and Argentina.
