Crested Elaenia

Elaenia cristata

The Crested Elaenia is a small passerine bird found in South America. It is characterized by its distinctive crest and olive-brown upperparts. The underparts are pale yellow with a white throat and belly. This species is known for its melodious, whistled song, often heard in open woodlands and forest edges. Crested Elaenias feed on insects and berries, foraging in the canopy and mid-levels of trees. They are often seen singly or in pairs. Although not globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to their populations.
