Crested Ibis, Nipponia nippon, is a bird of the ibis family that breeds in north-eastern China. It is the only member of its genus. Once far more widespread, it is now found only in Yangxian County in Shaanxi Province. The bird has a bare red face and a thick crest of feathers on the back of the head. Its bill is long and curves down strongly, with a black base and red tip, and the legs and feet are red. It was described by Temminck in 1835.
