Crested Malimbe

The Crested Malimbe is a striking bird found in the dense forests and woodlands of West Africa. It is easily recognized by its bright red plumage and distinctive crest. These birds are social and often form small flocks, foraging for insects and fruits in the upper canopy. The male's vibrant red coloration is a prominent feature during courtship displays. They build cup-shaped nests in the treetops, where the female lays and incubates the eggs. The Crested Malimbe is an important species in its ecosystem, contributing to seed dispersal and insect control.
