Crested Myna, Acridotheres cristatellus, is a starling of the Oriental Region, breeding from southern China into south-east Asia. It is a bird of open country close to towns and farmland, and it is recognised by the tuft of feathers on its forehead that gives it a crested look. Also called the Chinese starling, it belongs to the family Sturnidae and was described by Linnaeus in 1758. It has been kept as a cage bird and has been released beyond its normal range in some places.
