Crested Oropendola

Ornorectes cristatus

The Crested Oropendola is a striking bird found in the forests of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive bright yellow tail feathers and a unique crest on its head. These birds are highly social and often form large colonies in the canopy. They are skilled at building intricate hanging nests from vines and fibers. The diet of the Crested Oropendola consists mainly of fruits and insects. Their loud, melodious calls can often be heard echoing through the forest as they communicate with one another.
