Crimson-backed Tanager

Ramphocelus dimidiatus

The Crimson-backed Tanager (Ramphocelus dimidiatus) is a striking bird species found in South America. It is known for its vibrant crimson back and black wings, with the male displaying brighter colors than the female. These tanagers are often found in the canopy of tropical and subtropical forests, where they forage for fruits, insects, and nectar. They are social birds and can be seen in small flocks, especially during the breeding season. The Crimson-backed Tanager is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and fragmentation could pose future threats to its population.
