Crimson-breasted Barbet

Psilopogon haemacephalus

The Crimson-breasted Barbet is a medium-sized bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive crimson-colored breast and a green body with black and white markings. This species is known for its loud, repetitive calls that echo through the forest canopy. Crimson-breasted Barbets feed on fruits, insects, and small reptiles, using their strong bills to extract food from tree bark. They are cavity nesters, often using old woodpecker holes for nesting. Despite some habitat loss, they are still relatively common in their range.
