Crimson-crowned Fruit Dove, Ptilinopus porphyraceus, is a pigeon in the Columbidae family that breeds on islets in Fiji, Wallis and Futuna, Tonga, Samoa and Niue across the Pacific Ocean. It was described by Temminck in 1821. Its name points to the crimson crown that sets it apart. The bird is also known as the Tongan fruit dove and the purple-capped fruit dove. Its range includes the islands of central and south-west Polynesia, with breeding recorded from Fiji through to Niue.
