Crimson Shining Parrot

Crimson Shining Parrot, Prosopeia splendens, is a parrot of Kadavu and Ono in south-west Fiji, within the Pacific Ocean. It is confined to those islands and is also known as the Kadavu musk parrot. A medium-sized bird with a long tail, it shows bright crimson-red on the head, breast and belly, while the back, wings and tail are green with blue in the wings. In flight it looks long-winged and moves with alternating flaps and glides. It is very vocal, and its shrieks and squawks are higher pitched than those of the red shining parrot.
