This species forages on the forest floor for insects and invertebrates, utilizing its strong legs and bill to probe leaf litter and soil. The Cryptic Antthrush is typically solitary and communicates through a series of low, resonant calls. Due to its elusive nature, much of its behavior and ecology remains poorly understood.
