Cryptic Flycatcher

Ficedula crypta

The Cryptic Flycatcher (Ficedula crypta) is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is known for its elusive behavior and cryptic plumage, making it difficult to spot in its natural habitat. This species is characterized by its olive-brown upperparts, pale underparts, and a distinct white eyering. The Cryptic Flycatcher is often observed perching quietly in the understory, where it feeds on insects by making short sallies. Its breeding biology and ecological requirements are still poorly understood, and further research is needed to assess its conservation status.
