Micrastur mintoni Whittaker, 2003
Cryptic Forest Falcon, Micrastur mintoni, is a forest falcon of South America, breeding in eastern Amazonia south to Bolivia. It was described by Whittaker in 2003 and belongs to the Falconidae. It is found in lowland terra firme forest and also uses várzea forest. Adults are marked by a single broad white band on the tail, with a narrow white tip as well. It is often mistaken for other forest falcons, but its voice is the clearest way to tell it apart.
