Cuban Blackbird, Ptiloxena atroviolacea, is a passerine found in Cuba, where it breeds across the main island and on a few offshore cays. It is the only member of its genus and belongs to the Icteridae family. The species is resident all year and occurs in a wide range of wooded places, as well as in cropland, gardens, and built-up areas. It was first described by d'Orbigny in 1839. The bird is known from sea level up to about 950 m, and it is common and widespread.
