Antrostomus cubanensis
The Cuban Nightjar (Antrostomus cubanensis) is a nocturnal bird species found in Cuba and the Bahamas. This medium-sized nightjar has a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage during the day. Its large eyes and wide gape enable it to catch insects on the wing during its crepuscular and nocturnal foraging activities. The Cuban Nightjar is known for its distinctive churring calls that echo through the forested habitats it frequents. This species is primarily found in dry forests, pine woodlands, and scrubby areas where it can roost and nest on the ground, relying on its natural camouflage for protection.
