Nothoprocta curvirostris
The Curve-billed Tinamou is a medium-sized bird found in the high-altitude grasslands and shrublands of South America. It has a mottled brown plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its open habitat. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of whistled notes that can be heard at dawn and dusk. The Curve-billed Tinamou is a ground-dwelling bird, using its strong legs to run and its wings to burst into flight when threatened. It primarily feeds on seeds, fruits, and small invertebrates. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the conservation status of the Curve-billed Tinamou is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
