Dark-fronted Babbler, Dumetia atriceps, is a passerine babbler of the Timaliidae family, breeding from western India to Sri Lanka in the Oriental Region. It is a resident bird of forest undergrowth and the edges of woodland, where it is often hard to see. The species has a dark front, with brown upperparts and a pale underside, and the iris is pale yellow. In India the hood is black, while in Sri Lanka it is reduced to a darker facial pattern. It was first described by Jerdon in 1839.
