Dark-throated Seedeater, Sporophila ruficollis, is a passerine in the Thraupidae family that breeds in south Bolivia and south-west Brazil through to north-east Argentina and Uruguay, and moves north to north Bolivia and central Brazil outside the breeding season. It occurs in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, including Quebrada de los Cuervos. Its natural home is dry savanna and seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland in the tropics and subtropics. It was described by Cabanis in 1851.
