Diademed Amazon, Amazona diadema, is a parrot of north-west Brazil, confined to Amazonas in the Amazon basin. It belongs to the family Psittacidae and breeds in South America. First described by Spix in 1824, it was once treated as part of the red-lored amazon. It is a mainly green bird with red and black markings, and its plumage has a finely scalloped look from contrasting feather edges. The red on the face stops short of a superciliary line, and the wing shows a red flash in flight.
