Doherty's Bushshrike

Telophorus dohertyi (Rothschild, 1901)

Doherty's Bushshrike, Telophorus dohertyi, is a passerine of the Malaconotidae family that breeds in eastern and central Africa, from eastern DR Congo through south-west Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi to north-west Tanzania and western Kenya. It is tied to montane forest regions in the Albertine Rift and the East African highlands. The bird is a highland form, usually found in dense scrub, thick undergrowth, secondary growth and humid thickets, especially where bracken and bamboo are mixed in. Its name honours the American collector William Doherty.
