Dot-backed Antbird, Hylophylax punctulatus, is a passerine of the antbird family in Amazonia, where it occurs across South America. It lives in the understorey of lowland evergreen forest, especially blackwater várzea, and also in swampy places, along oxbow lake margins, and in transitional forest beside small watercourses. It is a monotypic species. Males have dark rufous-brown upperparts with a white patch between the scapulars, black back and rump with white-tipped feathers, and heavily spotted white underparts. Females are paler, with a buff belly and a white throat marked by a black line above.
