Dotted Tanager, Ixothraupis varia, is a bird of northern Amazonia in South America, occurring in Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname and Venezuela. It belongs to the Thraupidae family and is placed in the order Passeriformes. Its breeding range is in Amazonia. It uses subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and it also occurs in heavily degraded former forest. The species was described by Müller, PLS, in 1776.
