Drongo Cuckoo

Surniculus lugubris

The Drongo Cuckoo (Surniculus lugubris) is a species of cuckoo found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its glossy black plumage, long tail, and distinctive call. This bird is a brood parasite, laying its eggs in the nests of other bird species, particularly babblers and bulbuls. The Drongo Cuckoo feeds on insects, which it catches in mid-air using its agile flight and sharp beak. It is often found in open woodlands, forest edges, and secondary growth. Despite being relatively common in its range, the Drongo Cuckoo faces threats from habitat loss and nest predation.
