Duchess Lorikeet, Charmosynoides margarethae, is a parrot of the Solomon Islands and Bougainville, with its breeding range extending from Bougainville to Makira, Santa Ana and Santa Catalina. It was first described in 1879. The bird is associated with lowland and montane forest, and also with plantations, especially coconut plantations. It is most often recorded in lower montane forest, and it occurs from sea level to 1,350 m. A notable feature is that it is localised and absent from many apparently suitable parts of its range.
