Duchess Lorikeet

Lorius domicella

The Duchess Lorikeet (Lorius domicella) is a striking parrot species native to the islands of Indonesia. These birds are known for their vibrant plumage, with a combination of red, green, and blue feathers that create a stunning display. They are social and active birds, often seen in flocks as they forage for nectar, pollen, and fruits in the forest canopy. The Duchess Lorikeet plays a vital role in pollination and seed dispersal within its habitat. Unfortunately, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade pose significant threats to their populations.
